Grace Elizabeth Cruse, 75, of White Cloud, passed away peacefully at home Thursday afternoon, March 22, 2012.
A celebration of Grace’s life is planned for 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha. Pastor Regina Stillman, of Foster Memorial Church of White Cloud, will officiate. Interment will follow at the Olive Branch Cemetery, White Cloud.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 12 noon Monday where the family will meet from 6 until 8 that evening.
Grace was born March 13, 1937, at White Cloud, one of eight children of Maylon and Biddie Naomi Duncan Foster. She was a life long resident of White Cloud, where she attended school, graduating from White Cloud High School with the class of 1955, as valedictorian of her class. Grace was a homemaker most of her life, dedicated to raising her family. She worked as a cook at Highland Manor for five years, and Hiawatha Place for seven years.
Mrs. Cruse was dedicated to her faith and an active member of Foster Memorial Church in White Cloud. She was an avid gardener and a great cook!
She was married to Virgil Dean Cruse, July 24, 1955, in White Cloud. They have made White Cloud their home all of their married life. He survives of the home.
Also surviving are two sons: Gregory “Dean” Cruse of Lawrence, Sean Cruse of White Cloud; three daughters: Virbeth Cruse of White Cloud, Yvette Cook of Highland, Rebecca Cruse of Lawrence; 7 grandchildren: Zlane, Andron, Stephen, Tylesa, Keshana, Kayla, Bria; 7 great-grandchildren: Jaylen, Aahliya, Mila, Caschen, Remi, Carleon, and Savior.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Paul, George, Frank, Fred; sisters: Manila, Ruth, Jessie; grandson Conner Lee Cook; great-grandson Loushus D. Cruse.
